Even These Guys Wouldn't Have Enough

Title

Even These Guys Wouldn't Have Enough

Subject

Midway Airlines advertisement 1989

Description

Midway Airlines began operations as a low-cost carrier in 1979. The airline based its approach on use of Chicago’s older Midway Airport, which most airlines had replaced with the newer O’Hare Airport. Midway directed the money saved by using the older airport toward building its route network, and became known both for that network and for friendly service. Unusually, as seen in this advertisement, Midway challenged some aspects of the legacy carriers directly, rather than by simply offering other products. The airline could not survive the Gulf War and recession of 1991, and folded in that year.
