The Spirit of ’43 is a animated short produced by the Walt Disney Company in 1943. The film was commissioned by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to build popular support for the new “mass income tax” created by the Revenue Act of 1943. The short features Donald Duck and his Uncle and challenges all Americans to “pay their taxes to beat the Axis.” It was the sequel to a 1942 short, The New Spirit.
