Protest songs for the Miss America protest

Title

Protest songs for the Miss America protest

Subject

Miss America

Description

In the good humor and spirit of Robin Morgan's Miss America protests, these songs, which go along to the tunes of songs popular at the time, were to be sung during the protests. They critique the marketing of women's bodies by the Miss America pageant, specifically calling out admen and corporations, as well encourage other women to join in the movement. They are not overly confrontational or combative, just judgmental. The songs are always careful not to blame the woman for her own oppression, however, focusing on the larger forces that are responsible for the packaging and marketing of female bodies.
