W&L's fourth annual public affairs symposium, CONTACT, was set to open and discuss various aspects and manifestations of power. Most importantly, CONTACT obtained a last minute commitment to speak from Jack Thomas, a noteworthy black power advocate. He was set to give a speech on militant black power to open the symposium, to be delivered in Lee Chapel.
